Instrument Lesson Options

Cannon Lane offers tuition in a range of popular musical instruments. The links below provide information about the various instruments available, the tutors and approximate timings of lessons within the school timetable.

If places are available you will able to book a slot for your child at the bottom of each instrument’s information page.

Instruments
Bassoon Bassoon Yrs 3 & 4 2017-18
Flute is taught by Mr Wolfe who also teaches Clarinet - another member of the Woodwind category.

Flute is taught by Mr Wolfe who also teaches Clarinet - another member of the Woodwind category.
Cello Cello 2017-18
The cello is the smaller of the two Lower Strings instruments that can be learnt at Cannon Lane Primary. Taught by Mr Beamish who also teaches Double Bass.
Clarinet Clarinet 2017-18
Clarinet is one of two Woodwind instruments taught at Cannon Lane, the other being the Flute. Clarinet is taught by Mr Wolfe.
Double Bass Double Bass 2017-18
The largest of the orchestral string instruments, the Double Bass belongs to the Lower Strings alongside the Cello. Both are taught by Ms Beamish.
Drums Drums 2017-18
Drums are in a category of their own and are one of our most popular instruments. Taught by Mr Longman, pupils learn how to play the classic 'drum kit' as found in jazz and popular music.
Euphonium Euphonium 2017-18
The Euphonium belongs to the Brass category, alongside the Trumpet and Trombone. This instrument is taught by Mr Carruthers.
Flute Flute 2017-18
Flute is taught by Mr Wolfe who also teaches Clarinet - another member of the Woodwind category.
Guitar Guitar 2017-18
Guitar is inevitably one of our most popular instruments and is again in a category of its own. Taught by Mr Hughes.
Electronic Keyboard Keyboard 2017-18
Piano Keyboard is taught by Mrs Murray and provides a comprehensive introduction to modern keyboard instruments, including the piano and synthesiser.
Steel Pans Steel Pans 2017-18
Steel Pans are taught in groups of eight pupils by Ms Genis using the school's own set of Steel Pans.
Trombone Trombone 2017-18
The Trombone always proves popular and is certainly a distinctive member of the Brass category which also includes two other instruments - the Trumpet and Euphonium. Trombone is also taught by Mr Carruthers.
Trumpet Trumpet 2017-18
The Trumpet, heard in many types of music, is also taught by Mr Carruthers. It belongs to the Brass category which it shares with the Trombone and Euphonium .
Viola Viola 2017-18
The Viola is the slightly larger (and lower pitched) of the two Upper Strings instruments offered by Cannon Lane Primary School along with the Violin. Viola is taught by Ms Warnock.
Violin Violin 2017-18
The popularity of the Violin is beyond question and numbers wishing to play require that it is taught jointly by Ms Warnock and Mr Waterfield. The Violin is smaller and higher pitched than its fellow in Upper Strings, the Viola.
