External Music Lessons

Many Cannon Lane pupils choose to undertake instrumental studies outside of school. Children may wish to study 1:1, play an additional instrument or be unable to secure a place to study within school. Whatever the circumstances, there are excellent options for learning an instrument within Harrow and North West London…

Bravo!

Bravo at Harrow Music Service

Harrow Music Service (HMS) provide all music tuition at Cannon Lane but they also offer an after school instrumental teaching programme called Bravo! Lessons take place at the Harrow Arts Centre but for more details about the full Bravo programme please visit www.harrowmusic.org/music-lessons-2/bravo/.

Private Tuition

www.musicteachers.co.uk
The best way to find a respectable private instrumental tutor is normally through personal recommendation. But if you are unable to find a recommended teacher for a particular instrument www.musicteachers.co.uk is a useful place to start. The website is run in association with the Musicians Union and all tutors must list their qualifications and credentials.

Music Theory Tuition

ABRSM
Any enthusiastic music pupil should be encouraged to study music theory, especially if they have an interest in composition. Pupils following the ABRSM syllabus must pass Grade 5 Music Theory in order to take practical exams beyond Grade 5. For those pupils taking Trinity examinations Music Theory provides excellent support for the musicianship section of the examination.

Harrow Music Service also provide theory lessons through Bravo! Theory tutors can also be found by searching at www.musicteachers.co.uk.
